Help Your Patients Quit Tobacco With support from The National Institutes of Health, we have improved and evaluated our user-friendly interactive CD-ROM tobacco cessation training program for dentists and dental hygienists. Help Your Patients Quit 2.0 combines video, graphics and text to educate dental professionals about techniques for helping patients quit their use of all forms of tobacco. The program provides dental health care workers with a step-by-step approach using the "5A's": Ask, Advise, Assess, Assist, and Arrange. Complete with detailed how-to instructions, video demonstrations that illustrate effective counseling methods, testimonials from dental professionals and patients, as well as a complete resource library on the oral health effects of tobacco.[See Testimonial]

For dentists, dental hygienists, and other professional oral healthcare workers, this version contains all the video, text and graphics, as well as a Continuing Education (CE) self-test, to allow users to assess their knowledge, print their results, and earn CE credit.

Help Your Patients Quit Tobacco 2.0 Instructor's Package
This version of Help Your Patients Quit 2.0 has been specifically designed for oral health instructors. The Instructor's Package is a double-CD set which includes two separate disks: Instructor Disk: includes PowerPoint presentations for class lectures, hand-outs and printables, lesson planning guide, student exam and answer key. All components are in standard Microsoft Office® format, can be saved to a local computer, and modified to best suit individual needs. Student Disk: the Student Disk contains the entire Help Your Patients Quit 2.0 program, without the Continuing Education test. The Instructor Disk includes a separate, editable exam, which can be customized for individual classroom objectives.

In Good Taste: Quit Chewing Tobacco to Improve Your Oral Health (Video)
Big Dipper Video This video, designed for dental or dental hygiene patients, uses humor and testimonials to convey the health risks of smokeless tobacco use. Different ethnic and age groups and both genders are represented. It outlines the financial, social and health-related reasons for quitting and invites the patient's family to support the quitting effort. The video discusses nicotine patches, nicotine gum and how to cope with withdrawal symptoms. This program has been tested in clinical trials with thousands of dental patients. Reprint of the research is available upon request.
